Copyright Notice
Original literary, dramatic, musical and artistic works (such as books, magazines, manuals, photographs, paintings, sheet music, etc.) are protected by copyright. Copyright includes the sole right to reproduce a work, or a substantial part of it. The period for copyright protection differs depending on the type of work and who created it. For most works, the period begins with the creation of the work, and extends for the life of the author plus 50 years from the end of the calendar year in which the author died.
Works protected by copyright may be copied using our printing services only if authorized by the copyright owner or if permitted by the Copyright Act.
Reproducing less than a "substantial part" of a work is not an infringement under the Copyright Act. What constitutes a "substantial part" can be difficult to determine, as the amount copied is only one factor. The Copyright Act also contains exceptions. For instance, copying for the purpose of research or private study does not infringe copyright. Nor does copying for the purpose of criticism, review and news reporting, provided certain conditions are met. These and other exceptions are set out in the Copyright Act.
Show From The Dark relies on its customers to respect copyright, but does reserve the right to refuse to fulfill a copy request, or to allow others to make copies, if in our judgment an infringement of copyright may occur.
The above is provided as information, it is not to be relied upon as legal advice.
